Lessen the pain of grief

The pain of grief is awful.  We may understand that the body needs to process grief to help us move on, but the question exists...Can we speed it up a little so it doesn't hurt so much?

The answer is Yes and No.  The pain of grief must be felt an experienced to be free from it.  The truth is, the faster you fully experience it, the quicker you'll have more 'non-grieving' periods that you can live your life.  So,…

You never know what you've got until you lose it !

Every time I wake up I find that I have to face another day of my wife not being there, although it's been 16 years now since the angels came, I know if I mention her to someone it'll just give them a cause to tell me that I should be "over it" by now. Sitting at the desktop tonight playing her favorite sport, pool, I began to wonder what she would think of me now-having changed my appearance from my long Yanni appearance to a short typical haircut-would she be upset? And then I began to…

Losing and mourning family during the holidays and seeing the love within grief .

It has not even been a week since her passing and today being a holiday to spend with family and loved ones giving thanks for ones blessings... As I sit in my home alone reflecting on my life and my many losses I can cry a river of tears and easily feel the need to retreat to a dark place . I am not gonna let myself do that ... My mother , all my grandparents, brother, aunts, uncle ,cousins, friends and beloved pets who have passed on would not want that for me.

Sure I let myself…

This is for all the Mothers that lost there child...

I miss my Mommy oh so much

But I visit her each day

When she goes to sleep

On her pillows where I lay

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek

And whisper in her ear

Mommy don't be sad today

I'm your baby and I am here"

So you see my dear sweet one

Your children are okay

Your babies are here in My home

And this is where they'll stay

They'll wait for you with Me

Until your lessons are through

And on the day you come…

And the days seem to get longer

I Lost My Soul Mate

My husband and I were meant to be together. We knew the moment we met. We moved in together after two month's of dating, and married after two years of living together. We had one child together, and each had children from previous relationships, but we were all a family. I was so proud, am so proud, of my husband. He was the most intelligent man I'd ever known, next to my father. He was beautiful, charming, funny, an amazing father, and held a successful career. We had Sixteen fantastic…

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
