Lost Your Spouse/Partner

Surprised not to see a group like this one here; should be self-explanatory, for anyone who has lost their spouse or longtime partner (fiancee, boyfriend/girlfriend etc).

Hi Melodie - I'm so sorry for your loss. Also lost my beloved to cancer. I've gotten pretty good at avoiding "couples conversations" or why I'm not married etc. Like everything else about this, it takes time......hold on you can survive this......

Hello to all.  I am new to this group just over 6 months after losing my husband to cancer.  It's hard to get up and go to work every day.  Some days I just want to stay in bed.  I'm finding it hard to admit to strangers my husband is deceased and I find myself speaking of "us" and our future plans as if he were not deceased.  We have an upcoming family Caribbean Cruise planned and it's hard for me to speak of it without referencing "us." I know Thomas is with me-I feel him always.  And in fact Thomas is joining us physically on our cruise-I just leave out the part about his accommodations being in a tin can.  I know-"its still early."  I just wondered if others are making the same references to their mates?
