Ever since my young brother was murdered, I have been thinking about rallying for the death penalty. It wont bring him back, but it doesn't relieve me of my feeling that murderers should be dead. Or maybe they can suffer more in jail, but sometimes I dont think so. People in jail can get 3 squares a day, tv, a library and a courtyard to play basketball or exercise. I dont want all people in jail to suffer, but murderers make me sick.

Yes to the death penalty.  I, personally, don't have a problem with a convicted murderer receiving the death penalty.  Unfortunately, Phillip Credeur (my mom's murderer) will not receive the death penalty.  Apparently, he has suddenly become mentally retarded.  Convenient--- don't ya think?  Even if he were to receive the death penalty, it would be a long drawn out process that may never come to be.  If he does hard time in Angola, at least, I know that he is receiving some sort of punishment.  As for now, he is just sitting in jail having more rights than me or anybody else.  The judicial system is garbage.
Wow... suddenly he's got a handicap? It doesn't surprise me with the system, though... So sorry for your loss.

I've got mixed feelings with it myself. In a way, I want my sister's murderer to sit in there and rot, but then I think about how he'll still have a life in there. They have structure. They get meals, places to sleep, they have friends, jobs, go to school, ect. It's like their own little world. I don't want him to have that, but I don't know that I could watch if he was put to death. Or maybe I could... IDK.

I'm so sorry your brother was ripped out of your life. If you ever need anyone to talk to, you can message me. :)

I am so sorry for your loss and I say yes to the death penalty...but when my mom was murdered there had never been a woman given the death penalty is what the DA at the time said, but I was too young to know my rights on how to fight stuff like that. I wish I knew then what I know now and then I could have made an impact in some way with that myself in my case. I also believe that they shouldn't be sentenced to die in a death chamber, I believe they should die the same way they killed their victim so they can suffer also...I have just always felt that way.

I have mixed feelings about the death penalty as well.  Now this is all I have to say about it, " My father was absolutely in favor of the death penalty.  He countered those who said it didn't stop murderers from murdering that it stopped good decent people who were bent out of shape over something from doing something rash.  That he himself had not taken someone's life because he realized he might be executed for it."  I have to say he's right.  We don't know how many people the death penalty has saved because one can't prove a negative.

I am in favor of it in theory after reading the "Executioner's Song" a book meant to convince people to be against the death penalty.  I decided there are some people that will just kill over and over again, even in jail, because they are that selfishly dangerous.  The trouble is with corrupt prosecutions that take the wind out the public's sails when a party known to be innocent by prosecution ends up exonerated.  Then naturally everyone is upset with the idea someone innocent could have been or was executed.  The real problem is with the bad prosecutions but we can't undead the innocent.  I'd rather get rid of the crap prosecutors/investigations than the death penalty for those situations.

My mom died 4 months ago

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. She was sick for a few years. It was funny how when my grandmother smoked, my mom would always say-I’m gonna die from second hand smoke. My mom never smoked. She died from lung disease. Ironic.I was fine at the funeral. Planning. Talking to everyone. I thought u handled it great. Now 4 months later, I’m a mess. Some days I’m perfectly fine, but others I can’t walk down the street without crying. I keep thinking that I haven’t talked to her in a while & I…See More
