On Valentines Day I lost my best friend and the father of my children (2 yrs/8months). I need some advice on ways to tell my 2 year old.  He keeps asking me where dad is and when I try to explain it to him it doesn't seem to be clicking for him.  I have tried to tell him that dad is living with Jesus on a cloud and that he is up there watching us but I just need some more help here.  I have put plenty of pictures low and told him to look at them and hold them.  I just don't want him thinking he abandoned us or anything.  He was very close to his dad and it breaks my heart every time he asks me where he is.  Any suggestions please...books, anything.

This is just good reading and may give you comfort for yourself, and some suggestions on how to handle your particular concerns.

A link to a brochure that discusses this topic with questions like these:

3 “It Can’t Be True!”
7 Is It Normal to Feel This Way?
14 How Can I Live With My Grief?
20 How Can Others Help?
26 A Sure Hope for the Dead

I would appreciate very much some discussion on this topic, and hopefully it will allow for comfort and hope for ALL.
