Profile Information

About Me:
I am a mature retired woman who lives alone in a senior building. I have one daughter and a grandbaby who live out of state. I come from a large family but, one by one, family and friends are moving away. There have been so many transitional changes the last few years, all of which were not in my plans. Too many deaths to count lately. The pandemic has really affected my quality of life.
About my Loss:
In the last year, my great aunt (whom I was a caregiver for over 10 years) died in a NY nursing home after our governor forced actively ill Covid patients upon nursing home residential facilities. My brother-in-law died, my mother's best friend of over 70 years died two weeks before my sister died of Covid. Then my cousin just died two weeks ago from cancer that ravaged her body in a matter of a few weeks. She was a year older than me. I am high risk and now the Delta variant has hit. I know people who have been fully vaccinated and got Covid. I personally know many who have died of Covid. I know of family friends who have gotten Covid. Three sisters, my niece, my nephew, and my cousin's daughter got Covid, some with long lasting side effects. I feel like someone gave me a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Living in 2 small rooms, by myself equates to solitary confinement. I am a very strong person but, even this is now starting to get to me. The craziest thing is that I am trained in grief counseling and have done hospice work. How much is "too much" before one wants to scream 'uncle'!

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
