I have a question for the rest of you. Have your relationships with your siblings/aunts and uncles become strained since becoming an orphaned adult? I am struggling with many family relationships without my mom. She was the connection to us all. Now I am left to define realtionships with the rest of my family. I can not seem to connect with my sister who I live with, we were living with my mom until she passed. People keep giving me advice to move out and on. But no one seems to get I/we have no parents left, even my sister, aunt and uncle. My relationship with my sister, my only surviving relative is at times hanging by a thread.

I have lost everyone. The last was my mom this past summer. Feeling very lost and confused. I am really struggling with the adivce I have been getting from those around me. Any tips on how to get these opinions out of my head? The advice is to move on make decisions get going with things. I am single have a sister who is married with a 3 year old who. I think to myself move on, where to, all the people that kept me grounded are gone. If I go anywhere I dont have a soft place to come back to. Hesitant to leave in the first place.

I lost my dad in '04 and my mom nine months later. It's a very awkward situation. I know they would want me to be strong and do well, but it's insanely hard (and getting harder) to deal with the fact that my mom will never smile at me again and tell me its okay, and my dad won't ever show me another thing about working on something.

I am sure that I am not the only one that feels like this. My friends try to understand but since they have not lost both their parents. Like i have said I did not realize how much it would hurt losing both my parents. Especially my mom, i realize how much she supported and loved me!

My mom died 4 months ago

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. She was sick for a few years. It was funny how when my grandmother smoked, my mom would always say-I’m gonna die from second hand smoke. My mom never smoked. She died from lung disease. Ironic.I was fine at the funeral. Planning. Talking to everyone. I thought u handled it great. Now 4 months later, I’m a mess. Some days I’m perfectly fine, but others I can’t walk down the street without crying. I keep thinking that I haven’t talked to her in a while & I…See More
