6 weeks ago my brother who will be 52 in Nov was diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to his brain. he has had 4 weeks of Radiation and now on Chemo. Dr told him he has at least 8-9 mo but no more than 2 years. He lives 3 hours out of Seattle area and needing to move closer to his support group of family and friends. He will be taking treatments in Auburn, wa. problem is he has a dog he has had since 7 weeks old and is now 10 yrs and his wife has a bassett. He is desperate to find a dog friendly place in Auburn, Algona or Pacific in Washington State. he has no insurance, is trying to get aid and is to the point of severe depression. Can someone please point me in a direction that might be able to help him find a house for him and his wife and 2 dogs, Is there help for medication? This is all just so mind freezing, we all feel like we are turning in circles and not getting anywhere.

Sheri, when my husband was diagnosed the cancer hospital provided us with a binder full of everything we would need to make time at the hospital away from our home town as easy as possible.  It included contact information on rental units, bed and breakfasts, rooms to rent, nearby restraunts, parking, financial help, councelling services, etc.  If you could think of it, it was in the binder.  So my advice would be to contact the hospital and see if they could somehow email or fax that information to your brother even before he goes for his first appointment. There are also service clubs that if they know you need help in another city can contact their peers in that city ahead of time for you and provide help.  Your brother needs to be reaching out to the cancer organizations and finding out what they can do.  Good luck, God bless, enjoy every conversation you can have with your brother as that is what you are going to treasure down the road.
