Roger and Zell

Two scriptures that comfort me through my losses and struggles.

Isa 41:10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness.’

2 Cor 1:3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.

thnx zell i admir u for bean strong

dennis u so strong 2 lk zelll

Thanks Dennis,

Both of those are reassuring to me. I some times forget that God doesn't want me in misery. I really wish my faith were stronger. I believe if it were strong enough, I wouldn't feel all this pain. I could relax more and know that my loved ones are in heaven. I need to work on myself. I will remember both of these. Read some in psalm tonight too. Thanks again

Here is another account that gives me great comfort.

Mark 5:38-42 — So they came to the house of the presiding officer of the synagogue, and he saw the commotion and those weeping and wailing loudly. 39 After stepping in, he said to them: “Why are you weeping and causing this commotion? The child has not died but is sleeping.” 40 At this they began to laugh at him scornfully. But after sending them all outside, he took the child’s father and mother and those with him, and he went in where the child was. 41 Then, taking the hand of the child, he said to her: “Tal′i·tha cu′mi,” which, when translated, means: “Little girl, I say to you, ‘Get up!’” 42 And immediately the girl rose and began walking. (She was 12 years old.) And at once they were beside themselves with great ecstasy.

What stands out to me:

This 12 year old girl had died and the family of course was in great pain.
Jesus resurrected the girl...brought her back to life.
When the family was reunited with their daughter they were

"Beside themselves with GREAT ECSTASY."

I know that we will experience the same when we are reunited with our loved ones....this gives me HOPE....which helps cope with great pain that comes from the loss...the loss is only temporary.

This truth does NOT take the pain away now, but in giving us hope helps us endure the pain as we look forward to the overwhelming ecstasy that we await.

Thanks Dennis, after reading this I'm going to try to give living with more Hope today, and some people around me will notice why.

My sister mentioned this program on Grief from Dr. Oz to me the other day. Thought I would post it.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
