About Me:
I'm a 21 year old female. Been sober for 2 years. Had a lot of rough times in my past and alcohol and drugs helped me numb my pain. I now run a sober living house and am a residential aide at a detox facility.
About my Loss:
After I left the guy I was using with for 3 years I moved to Ohio and met a guy that had the same rough past as I had and was also in recovery. We had only spent 5 short months together before his past came back to haunt him and he was killed. At 6 months sober I watched the man I had been falling in love with get shot right infront of me and I held him in my arms as he was taking his last breath. Begging him to squeeze my hand and hold on just a little bit longer but he couldn't and he was gone before the paramedics arrived. I was torn away from him by officers not knowing if he made it into the ambulance once they put me in the cop car. It wasn't until I was questioned for 5 long hours in the middle of the night that I was informed he didn't make it into the ambulance and he died in my arms. The man that killed him is still walking for now but is set to be sentenced. I have nightmares, I have panic attacks and those were never an issue until that night. He was cremated about a week later and I carry some of his ashes in a locket that I recently put away with some of his things I keep in a memory box. Sometimes it does affect my current relationship but he tries to be very understanding. I never got closure from his death..

My Fathers Loss
