Too Much Alike

Our children were always very close, and they were very alike.  They were born 18 months apart, the boy first and then the girl.    Both dark headed, brown eyed, they had the same mouths and eyes.  They were also very intelligent, both growing up as honor students, excelling in their academics to the point where they each received full rides in their respective graduate schools.  They were very competitive too, and that may have been part of their quest for excellence - to keep the challenge…

Oh Sue, well first of all darn it I wrote you a note and like a dummy I somehow lost it.......I am so sorry that you are going through all this.  It is bad enough that we lost our children , never mind handling the everyday things in life.   My husband is not the father of these children and so my sadness is pushed down, for I know he does not get it.  I get counseling and go to Compassion Friends meeting.   I know I have to go through the first year without making decisions, but sometimes I just want to leave and go get my own place far away from here.   That might sound terrible, but I do.   It is , sometimes , I think it is all about him.......I think we need to take care of our needs first, we were the moms that gave birth to our children.  I am glad your hubby and you are in counseling, for maybe this will help you a great deal.  You have a lot of pressure on you Sue, and I do feel really bad.   I myself in a lot of ways do too.....I really hope you find , and me too:)) some sort of peace someday.   I know happiness is out for that is when you are young and no tragedies have hurt you, so I just hope for peace and quiet.    Please take care of yourself , Sue, for stress can do terrible things with your body...this is the worst thing you will ever go through, besides the illness of the children.  You are brave and remember, right now, I really believe you come first.  I do think of you often and look for your comments.  We as women have been taught to take care of everyone else's needs.  I think our should be first , for how can we do that if we are stressed out and get sick ourselves......Please take care of yourself , first, Sue.   Do what feels right and feels good to you....you are a good mom , and yes you are still a mom.   Your children showed you how good you were........I will talk to you later...love, lynne

This is so sad. I read it for myself and then I read it to my husband. Both of us in tears. You were blessed with amazing children. I can't begin to imagine how difficult it is to have lost two. I'm struggling so much having lost one. My heart goes out to you. I will never forget this. You have my deepest sympathy and prayers. Your children certainly have an amazing strength and most powerful love for you and each other.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
