Sneaky Seasons of Grief

In the three months since my husband passed away from multiple myeloma

I have discovered that grief is sneaky! Many days I have felt better, only to

feel anger or dissolve into tears when confronted by something that

reminded me of him or the disease itself. I took my rage out on the illness

and for a short time turned my back on the many friends and medical

staff who had supported us so much through the years. By avoiding

people around me & the places Bill…

Jodi,

Your story sounds like what my sister in law will be saying soon.  My brother in law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on August 9th 2012.  He had been sick for a couple of months and had been told that he had an infection.  They said probably e coli and he was trying to get plenty of sleep to  allow his body to fight it off.  Finally on the 9th he asked his wife Sandy to take him to the ER. They have no health insurance and therefore I know that the pain must have been terrible or he would not have gone. Within 2 days we were told that he had days to weeks so my husband left for Orlando to be with his brother Roger.  Roger decided to go to our home town of Cincinnati Ohio to die.  It is much easier on the kids so they can go to work or stay home when needed.  We got another call last Wednesday that my husband should get to Cincinnati if he wanted to be able to talk to his brother. Roger's tumor has grown and can be seen from the outside his body taking over his hips now.  He is on so much morphine that he barely ever reaches consciousness and when he does come around the pain is sooooo bad that he has to have more pain killer.  The end of the agony is soon but for Sandy the horrible grief process will begin.

I do grief counseling but when it is you who experiences this terrible loss somehow all your knowledge does not seen to help.  If you would like to talk just email me at mawmaw1591@gmail.com I hope you and your family will find comfort in God's loving arms.  (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17) ". . .may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness,  comfort YOUR hearts."

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
