Dear Don,

I am 61 and my husband and I have been married 42 years. We just lost my husband's brother to pancreatic cancer and I truly believe that cancer is evil. What it does to the person is terrible and the horrible pain it leaves in its wake is indescribable. Please be comforted that God is not the cause of death or sickness. Sickness is the result of Satan's rebellion and our first parents decision to disobey God's clear law prohibiting the eating fruit from one tree that God kept for himself. Satan made it look like God was withholding something good from them so they chose self rule. However, self rule has proven disastrous.

(Ecclesiastes 8:9) "man has dominated man to his injury."

(Romans 5:12) "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned."

(Romans 5:19-21) “For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were constituted sinners, likewise also through the obedience of the one [person] many will be constituted righteous. 20 Now the Law came in beside in order that trespassing might abound. But where sin abounded, undeserved kindness abounded still more. 21 To what end? That, just as sin ruled as king with death, likewise also undeserved kindness might rule as king through righteousness with everlasting life in view through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

But this still leaves many questions one of which is “Why has God allowed suffering”? I do not want to impose, but if you would like some comfort from the scriptures I would be very happy to help.

God cares deeply for each of us as shown by Isaiah 41:10, which says, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness.’

Hope this has helped a little.

Brenda

My mom died 4 months ago

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. She was sick for a few years. It was funny how when my grandmother smoked, my mom would always say-I’m gonna die from second hand smoke. My mom never smoked. She died from lung disease. Ironic.I was fine at the funeral. Planning. Talking to everyone. I thought u handled it great. Now 4 months later, I’m a mess. Some days I’m perfectly fine, but others I can’t walk down the street without crying. I keep thinking that I haven’t talked to her in a while & I…See More
