mommy you are missed

Though this life treated you like scum

you gave me the beat to my drum

you let your heart crack and bleed

and made me suffer and need

you shut out all who wanted to see you well

to the bottle you would scream and yell

yet underneath the surface of this all

Hi Belinda, I lost my mother on 7/3/2010 to alcoholism. Alcoholism is a horrible disease. I sometimes feel that when people hear that my mother passed away from alcohol that the begin to judge her. I find myself at all cost wanting to defend the decisions she made to others; however, being really angry with her for making those decisions. I tried and tried to get her to stop and so did other family members, but she just wouldn't listen. My mother lost her husband in 2004 and that is when she turned to alcohol. She just didn't want to live anymore without him. She wasn't a bad mother at all, but the alcohol began to consume her. She as a magnificent person with a great hear. I miss her sooooo much and just wish she would've dealt with the grief for her husband in a more constructive manner. ...the last lesson she taught me was not to deal with grief with alcohol. I pray and thank God every day for comforting and strengthing me.
