About Me:
I am a forty year old father of two girls. I am married for a second time. I am more sensitive than most men, a consequence of being primarily raised by two strong women, my grandmother and mother. At this point in my life I have lost both grandparents and my mother as well as my faith....
About my Loss:
I lost my grandmother to leukemia some years ago. My mother passed six months ago after a ten year battle with cancer. My grandfather passed two weeks ago after fighting Alzheimer's disease for the last six years. My father has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. My wife has taken a job two hours from home and has a separate home until I finish the police academy in May. I have also lost any faith I ever had. I am alone

More difficult times...

In less than twelve months I have lost my mother, grandfather, performed cpr on a friend's father who died in my hands. I recently graduated the police academy and was looking forward to rejoining my wife in Denton where we had decided to make a new start. I was greeted with her request for a divorce. Now I find myself almost back where I started with this whole process. People tell me to get back out there and do things and that things could always be worse but I dread to think what else…

Difficult Times

For those who don't know me, my name is Adam. My mother died seven months ago after fighting breast and bone cancer for ten years. I took care of her for most of that time and when she passed it took a deep emotional toll on me as well as my marriage and school efforts. During the time I was caring for her I was trying to attend nursing school and wasn't able to focus well and ended up failing the program. I became very cold and distant and ceased to care for myself or my marriage as I…

Adam, please allow my family and I to extend a truly sympathetic ear.  May I ask, what faith were you brought up with?  Why do you feel your faith is lost?  We have a 40 year old son and 6 soon to be 7 grandchildren.  My family lost my father in law July 2010 and we have all taken that very hard.  To this day my, now 5 year old, granddaughter draws pictures for great pawpaw and we keep them in a Tupperware container.

This road of grief is filled with terrible highs and lows.  Each person is different and handles grief in a way unique to themselves.  Loss or damaged faith seems to be one of the normal things that can happen but does not mean that it is lost forever.  Sometimes this kind of "grief related loss of faith" is more a list of new unanswered questions.  Questions when answered from the Bible can restore a persons faith.

Just want you to know that you are not alone - many here have been where you are and will be here for you.  If you become uncomfortable speaking publicly feel free to email me at

Passing it Forward,

Brenda

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
