I'm destroyed. Both my parents have been taken by this horrid disease. My mom recently passed of balled cancer at age 65 on June 30 2015. My father passed of leukemia at age 66. It's coming up to his 2 year anniversary on July 19. I'm 36 with no parents. I've gone through 5 years of hell. Each death has occurred during my maturnity leaves as well. Which makes things even harder to deal with. I'm so angry and upset. I'm still in shock and can't figure out what to do. I have to be a parent myself and all I want to do if curl up in a ball and cry everyday. This is so unfair and I can't believe it has happened to me.

Hello Samantha.  I dont know what I can say to you ?.  My lovely wife passed from cancer following a Bowel operation in September 2014, we had been married 22 years.  I meet people when walking our Yorkie pup who lost their husbands or wives,  after years of being together.  I wrote a letter to my local paper about grief from the left behind spouses point of view, and in tribute to my wife, would you like to read it ?.....

Thank you for your reply. I would love to read what you wrote. I'm so sorry for your loss as well

I am so sorry for your loss, Samantha. I can sympathize with the feeling that it is terribly unfair to lose a parent at a young age, I cannot imagine the pain of losing both. Sometimes the world can feel exceedingly cruel. I am not sure anything we say can help to make you feel better, only that you aren't alone in your feelings of grief. xx

Thank you for your kind words. I hate that I'm not alone. No one should feel this way. I know it's part of life. But it hurts alot.

I am truly sorry for your losses Samantha and Michael! My dad died 1st and my mom died within 1 year and a week of my dads passing.  Having no parent's is not an easy situation at all.  The two year anniversary of my moms passing is coming up next month.  I cannot believe she has been gone for nearly two years. I also cannot imagine losing my husband either, so I feel for you both.  My best to you Samantha & Michael.

Hello Samantha!I just read about your loss! Unfortunately it will take time to adjust! There is a before and after when you loose members of your family! And yes it is unfair, but life is continously challenging us !You are not alone ! And this forum will help you to overcome these very sad moments you are going through! Regards!Isabel

Does anyone else feel pressure to always reply because you're afraid it'll be the last conversation?

Hi everyone. This is my first post here.I lost my brother in December 2024 to an accidental overdose. He passed away suddenly in his sleep. We were only a year and a half apart in age, and he was the closest person I've ever had.One thing I've been struggling with ever since is that I feel an overwhelming pressure to reply to texts and answer calls as soon as I can. If someone messages me and I don't respond right away, my mind starts thinking, "What if something happens to them before I reply?…See More
