"Dona, I am so sorry for your pain.  A difficult relationship like yours always leaves all sorts of conflicting feelings that are hard to sort out.  I hope that the support you receive here will help you find your way to a better place."

"Hi, I'm brand new, too.  I needed some place to talk out the grief that other people don't understand and don't really want to listen to.  Hopefully, this will be a helpful place for both of us.  Whatever your loss, I…"

Profile Information

About Me:
Single mother of three wonderful children. Educator.
About my Loss:
I met Nick in 2018 through an online dating site. I wasn't particularly interested in him but he talked me into meeting. Once we did, we were practically inseparable. I thought what we had was too good to be true and it turns out it was. After three months he started showing signs of severe insecurity- with all the behaviors that go along with it. Our relationship had its ups and downs and we almost broke up several times- I just kept relenting and told myself we were meant for each other, despite the fact that he scared me sometimes and that I had to act a certain way to avoid a confrontation of some sort. Less than a year into our relationship he ended up in the ER. When I got there his son told me he found cocaine on his coffee table and I was shocked and felt betrayed. Doctors gave him a 1% chance of waking up because he had suffered an intracranial hemorrhage. He died two days later. I've done all the crying I can do, I think. Now I'm suffering from panic attacks, which I think is because I am filled with unresolved anger and with questions I will never get the answers to.

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
