About Me:
Been a 'beach-boy' most of my life. Grew up in OCMD, drafted in 1970, Vietnam 18 mos. GI bill to college then to grad school at UT Knoxville, became an urban planner working for small coastal towns and counties in NC. Retired from local government in 2012. Age 65. We (my wife Sandy)and I both enjoyed outdoor activities like biking, swimming, surfing and just sitting on the beach. We have a shelter dog, Otis' who now is both a savior and a curse to me as big separation anxiety is setting in for him
About my Loss:
Lost my wife of 40 years to cancer...totally out of the blue. diagnosed on her birthday Oct 20 of met brain cancer which came from her lung and went throughout her body. neuro doc wanted to operate on her left frontal lobe to remove a tennis ball sized tumor but I said no and signed her up for hospice. No one at the hospital except a wonderful head nurse supported by decision. It took 5 hours just to get her released from this hospital as my wife kept pleading with me to get her out of there. We had a couple of good months which I don't want to think much about now. There's really no 'good memories' right now and I'm not sure there ever will be because the best is gone forever. She died alone in our bathroom right after breakfast on February 4th

Hi everyone. This is my first post here.I lost my brother in December 2024 to an accidental overdose. He passed away suddenly in his sleep. We were only a year and a half apart in age, and he was the closest person I've ever had.One thing I've been struggling with ever since is that I feel an overwhelming pressure to reply to texts and answer calls as soon as I can. If someone messages me and I don't respond right away, my mind starts thinking, "What if something happens to them before I reply?…See More
