Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a 39 year old mom of three. Married to my second husband for 5 years and a real estate agent.
About my Loss:
In January 2013 my father underwent open heart surgery and never fully recovered, he stayed in MICU until April, from then to Sept. He was on and out of a nursing home and ICU. June of 2013 my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal breast cancer. The next 3 months I took care of both parents in separate towns while working full time and being newly married. My daddy passed away on his birthday in September, bc my mom was so sick we had to delay his funeral for over a month. For the next nine months I took care of my mom ultimately moving her in with me where she passed away in June of 2014. After her funeral my brother stole everything from their home, and threw away many sentimental items along with ansestory work my mom did as a hobby. Not only did I lose my parents and took care of them alone but also lost so many items that were a part of my childhood.

Keleigh, you've suffered so much loss and I'm so sorry for that.

Your story is very heartbreaking and the trauma you have experienced caring for your parents is very upsetting.  I took care of my mom for almost three years before she died this past May.

Her last moments on this Earth were also very traumatic for me. I had to call an ambulance to our home and still can see her rapid breathing and glazed over eyes.  I still have anxiety attacks - mostly in the morning and always feel afraid because I realize she's no longer with me.

Again, I'm sorry for your losses. I lost my dad too so feel like an orphan, even though he passed almost 15 years ago.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
