- About Me:
- I am a female, 72 years old, retired teacher who just had 55th year of marriage. Have 4 children, 7 grand children and 9 great grandchildren. I have a dog and consider myself active.
- About my Loss:
- My husband, 73, died of an aggressive form of dementia March 9. The first week was OK with a lot of people around, now not so much. I am more sad and there is a constant reminder everywhere. A memorial gathering is planned for next week. I was his caregiver for 5 years until he went into a residential setting and lived only 6 months. Just don't know where to turn. Grief support groups not available in my area. I went to a dementia support group. I journal feelings but doesn't help.

My husband of 55 years died recently from a battle with dementia. (6 years or so). I was his primary caregiver until the last 6 months when he went into hospice and residential care. Traumatic loss of an only child
I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.
