About Me:
just turned 30. been with my common law husband since 2006 and that was it for me. he understood me without having to explain a thing. i got hurt in 2008 and he kept me from giving up and helped me with everything. now i have to learn how to survive without the only man for me.
About my Loss:
saturday afternoon, we were alone at the house and he started having throat pains and 30 mins later said he had pain in his rib cage also but the throat pain was the worst. he refused to go to the hospital and an hour and a half later went to take a shower and told me he was feeling a little bit better and dropped. i was there in less than 5 seconds but couldnt pull him out out the shower because of his angle-he was half sitting and half lying down. with my back and nerve pain i can do a max of 20-30 pounds and my husband was 250 but i tried with all my might for 2 minutes while he was breathing and calling 911. all i could do was wrap a towel around him to anchor to me so he was semi upright and do rescue breathing when he stopped and one armed chest pounds for compressions. 911 operator kept saying to lie him down or pull him out and i was screaming at him i couldnt and why but that's all he said. when ambulance got there he wasnt breathing and they had to remove the shower doors and then drag him out. they had to shock him on the bathroom floor (where our dog lays alot now) and in the ambulance shock him again and said he wasnt breathing but had a pulse. at hospital they said he 100% blockage in main artery and put in a stint then he started having seizures and flat lined that night and they brought him back. he was on 13 different meds and vent. they put him in hypothermic state to attempt to preserve his brain but 12 hours later he was getting worse. they had to warm him up and stopped machines to get a baseline on status and one minute later started seizure like spasms and we were told he asperated and ended up with a really bad infection. next morning brain scan showed minimal activity and his organs were shutting down. his son decided to terminate life support monday night and let me know when there was just 2 hours left. i knew it was my husbands wishes not to be on life support but was wishing/praying for a miracle. before we left the hospital his son was asking me what all we had and what he wanted and i couldnt believe it.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
