Profile Information

About Me:
I am 69 years old and live in Central Florida. I have lived here 16 years, but spent most of my life in the Midwest. I am living alone at this time, with three cats:) I have many friends, and attend a grief support group but I am still alone a great deal and I find most people are uncomfortable when I try to speak about losing my husband, or they expect me to be "over it". At least that is the feeling I get. I swim every day and make a tremendous effort to get out of the house and participate in activities but I am very heavy hearted.
About my Loss:
My beloved husband, Fred, was diagnosed with kidney cancer in June of 2013. His cancer was very advanced and he went from being a vital fun loving wonderful partner to being a invalid in a very short time. Despite surgery and chemotherapy, he died three months after the diagnosis. I was and still am devastated. He was only 69, newly retired and we had many plans and hope for the future. We were very close and truly in love. I miss his terribly. I make many efforts to reach out to people but I have found most people do not want to hear about these feelings. I still meet with a Hospice counselor once a month. She has been a life line.

Grandma sewing room

So I am almost done with cleaning my grandmas sewing room that wasn’t touched in 10 years because of all the mess, but now that she passed away 2 days ago, I don’t know if I should continue, I wanna finish what I started but I don’t know what to do, my grandpa is still alive and I don’t want to leave this burden on him.See More
