About Me:
Hello,
my name is adrienne. im 24 years old and live in chicago. im very close with my family even though we are all spread out across the mid west and don't get to see each other often.
About my Loss:
This last past Black Friday the most unimaginable and horrific event happened to my family. my 2 year old cousin Bentley was murdered by his mother's boy friend. He suffered blunt force trauma to his head as well as 2nd degree burns on over 50% of his body after being submerged in scalding hot water.

this all happened when his mother was at work. she left her son in the care of her 34 year old boy friend whom was also watching his own 11 and 7 year old children. according to his 11 year old Bentley endured this torture for over a half hour locked inside the bathroom with this monster. after he did what he did he called my cousin (Bentley's mother) and told her something was wrong with Bentley and she needed to come home. my cousin came home to find her son unconscious in a bath tub with her boyfriend no where to be found. she rushed Bentley to the hospital where he was air lifted to another hospital. Bentley was put on life support on Friday (nov,23) and was taken off on Sunday (nov, 25)

i cant even begin to put into words how something like this makes you feel. when i was told i could not even grasp the words being said to me. it was like someone had stuck their hand into my chest and ripped my heart out. the pain i feel, i don't even comprehend. it has changed my life and my families dramatically.

i spent the first few days trying to ask why did this happen? how could someone, let alone, a father do this to a little boy. how is my family going to get through this? will i ever feel the same? it has only been a few weeks since this took place. there is still a huge hole in my heart. my only comfort i have now is knowing Bently has touched so many other peoples lives. after he was taken off of life support his organs were donated. his lungs are still breathing in a little boy and his heart is beating in a little baby girl.at least those families have a Christmas to celebrate with their children.
