Profile Information

About Me:
I had to retire from my job when I realized that my wife was having serious cognitive difficulties. Since then, I have withdrawn from life. I feel that my world has collapsed.
About my Loss:
Part of my loss began in 2000 when my wife was found to have widespread, advanced, late Stage 3 uterine cancer: surgery removed most of her reproductive system but for a few inches of her vagina. We went from a life of having sex frequently to literally nothing: she was very ill and weak from the extensive surgery she underwent. A drastic adjustment in our sex lives was made over time. Then in 2006, I began to notice that she was having considerable cognitive problems (and had been for several years). She has declined extremely rapidly, has been suffering small occlusive strokes and devastating grand mal seizures. Although the severity if the seizures has been controlled by medication, she continues to have them and other than knowing her own name, has amnesia. Doctors have concluded that she is suffering from Alzeimer's Disease. She has declined very rapidly physically and mentally.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
