Hi Tammy, thanks for responding and yes I would be interested in knowing what a treasure chest dinner would be.  I have started putting things together for her for when she is older.  I saved his pictures that he had of things he did during his life, all the pictures of him with her, and working on getting all the video done.  I made photo slideshow videos for his birthday this year and then another for his one year anniversary.  I actually have his birthday ones on here in the video section.  I put them on here mainly for the song I had found.  I had heard it a few months after he left and I just felt that it said what I felt.  It's called Precious Child (I think).  Have you ever heard it?  Thanks again.  I pray you be blessed.

Hello Tammi, I'm sorry for your loss and that you have had to join such a group.  I believe it is one of the hardest trials we will endure in our lifetime, but God has His reasons even though we may not understand them right now we can have some peace in knowing that all is according to His will.  Your son is a handsome young man.  I noticed a baby in your pictures.  Did he leave a child?  My son left a 21 month old daughter.  I almost think that was one of the hardest things to deal with.  Trying to find the words to say to her when she wanted her daddy.  Hugs & blessings, Ann

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for touching base.  We are currently in the process. The arraignment is tentatively scheduled for Aug 16 but it might get moved back because of a scheduling conflict for prosecutor. It has been a long row to hoe and we are only maybe in the beginning of the middle of "what happened".  The preliminary hearing was an out of body type experience.  It felt surreal, I had to just sit there and take it while people quoted the murderer as saying my dad was stinky old fossil that nobody would miss.  Tears...

What about you?  Has the drunk driver been prosecuted? Are they sorry at all? How are you guys holding each other up?  It is wonderful you know your purpose already, we're still feeling our way around how to honor my dad.  Well, I mean except for the part where we would not let this case fade from public accountability.  Thank you for sharing the scripture with others.  It is hard for me to do right now because that makes me feel Daddy's loss very deeply. He was a true "red letter" Christian, if Jesus said it, he did it.  One of the most hurtful things someone close to me on my mom's side of the family said was that he was a lost soul, intimating that he was not a believer.  I know for a fact that wasn't true but it hurts any way, that someone could think that.  I hope you and your beautiful family are safe and staying cool in this heat wave.  We have shade, ice and a fan and tonight the worst is supposed to be over for 4 or 5 days at least.  Thank goodness.  Peace, Ruth

Hello Tammy,

First let me say how sorry we are you lost Deante and now need to belong here.  It is a club with the costliest membership in the world.  Thank you for posting the beautiful pictures.  I feel instantly connected because I see your granddaughter, her mother and your son.  It's so bittersweet to look, isn't it? We don't have many pictures of my Daddy that we lost to murder 3 1/2+ yrs ago.  It is wonderful you are honoring your son's life with this foundation you have started.  I know it will make a difference in your life and the lives of others.  Blessings to you and yours, Ruth

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
