About Me:
67 yo ... not dealing with death grief, dealing with dramatic changes in both my mother's health and husband's. Mom has 'flunked' hospice four times and is 90yo. Husband began to become seriously ill 2.5 years ago after not retiring until he was 75 (he's now 80). He's my BEST FRIEND ...or was?
About my Loss:
Watching both of them become less of themselves fairly rapidly ... husband more than Mom.

Having difficulty keeping compassion in place for Mom ... she has always been self-absorbed and narcissistic and she is only more so now. She lives in a nice retirement center with three levels of care but she runs out of money by October and I have been very clear, as my brother and sister have too, that she will be moving into a Medicaid facility as we are not in a position to supplement this living (she's been in this environment over 5 years and gone through a bunch of money to maintain this life style).

My beloved husband (25 years married, found each other after more than several marriages total but truly as good a marriage, friendship, relationship as we have ever seen. We are deeply in love and value what we have ... but it is getting harder for each of us. He's retired from the army and is all the man that implies. He took legal custody of his children at 3 and 4 yo and raised them, while working AND going to school. He's simply amazing - as are his children and now our two grandchildren (5 and 1yo boys)

Leo is not anymore terminal than we all are - but he has developed six seriously difficult to control conditions ... it is a great deal of work to keep him 'balanced'. I am just watching this once vibrant, smart, deeply caring man become less of all he has been in his life - and knowing it is harder for him than it is for me. But I am the only caregiver and don't dare leave him for too long - last time I went to my dr. he did the laundry, overfilled the tub and had water everywhere before I got home. It is always something ...
Are You a Service Provider? If Yes, please tell us about your service.
No. I am looking for a grief group where I will fit ... to help others and for them to help me. I don't know if there is such a kind of group and even person ... it never occurred to me that I needed grief counseling until a friend who knows me very well and lost her husband two years ago said, "you don't need a geriatric specialist, you need a grief specialist." Anybody out there who wants to connect

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
