My Fathers Loss

Traumatic loss of an only child
I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.
Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide
If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. thank you for responding. i don't talk to anyone verbally about what i am going thru. the memory and pain is too much,i would fall apart, and never get up.
but maybe here i can write and share some things that i normally cannot do. this can be a starting point, thank you again
I am so sorry to hear of your tragedy . . . Still, I am glad that you found this website because you will need support as do we all. Please feel free to pour your heart out. We all have experienced tragedies that affect us to our very core.
Here is a quote from a brochure that has helped my family:
"Talking can be a helpful release. Following the death of all ten of his children, as well as some other personal tragedies, the ancient patriarch Job said: “My soul certainly feels a loathing toward my life. I will give vent to [Hebrew, “loose”] my concern about myself. I will speak in the bitterness of my soul!” (Job 1:2, 18, 19; 10:1) Job could no longer restrain his concern. He needed to let it loose; he had to “speak.” Similarly, the English dramatist Shakespeare wrote in Macbeth: “Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak whispers the o’er-fraught heart and bids it break.”
