- About my Loss:
- I lost my father on January 6th, 2011. He passed during the night which they believe was due to a heart attack. My dad and I weren't very close majority of my life. I would say in about October of 2010 he left his girlfriend of 10 years, and started calling me almost every night. We would have long talks and I was so excited to be able to have a second chance at getting to know my Dad. I had a very hard time because I was so used to being rejected by him that it was different than what I was used to. I remember, I was sick with tonsillitis, and I wanted to call him the night he passed, but I thought "I'll call him when I feel better", little did I know the phone call I was going to be receiving early the next morning.

Does anyone else feel pressure to always reply because you're afraid it'll be the last conversation?
Hi everyone. This is my first post here.I lost my brother in December 2024 to an accidental overdose. He passed away suddenly in his sleep. We were only a year and a half apart in age, and he was the closest person I've ever had.One thing I've been struggling with ever since is that I feel an overwhelming pressure to reply to texts and answer calls as soon as I can. I am so sorry for your loss...I too had a close relationship with my dad until I was about 10 years old then things changed and we were distant for the rest of the time he was alive but got closer and tried to make up for lost time about a couple of years before he passed away of cancer.
