About Me:
The nickname everyone calls me in my family is Moose or Moosie. I am 21 years old and have two loving parents. When i was born, my mom hired a nanny to take care of me and the house. I was raised by a Jamaican nanny, she was like a second mother to me. We were undeniably close. I feel empty without her and hope that I will be able to find support on this site.
About my Loss:
On July 17, 2012 - I lost my nanny, named Joey to colon cancer and it spread to the liver, but the main culprit was the pneumonia that she had caught due to her weak immune system. She was diagnosed with cancer in Feb 2012. She and my immediate family kept her cancer a secret from me because I was away at school and they didn't want to be affected. I graduated in May and returned home, several days later they broke the news to me. I was heartbroken as anyone could imagine. I am grateful for the few months we got to share, but I feel that it was just too soon and I had all the hope in the world that she was going to make it through this pneumonia at least, but I guess the other underlying factors took control. I am going to miss her so much and I don't know how to live normal without her. I don't want sympathy, I want help and to share experiences with people. One day, I hope that cancer will just be a zodiac sign.

Grandma sewing room
