Hi, My mom passed away December 12, 2011. I am an only child and my father is in a nursing home. I was extremely close to my mother. I joined this board to see if I am the only one experiencing some feelings. Sometimes i feel so lost and alone.

My Fathers Loss

Traumatic loss of an only child
I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Hi! I'm sorry about your mom. My mom died on Dec 27,2012. Please know that you are not alone. Message me anytime and feel free to chat if you want, I'm usually on in the evening. I know what its like to lose your best friend, because thats what my mom was. I also love cats and have lost beloved cats as well.
Hi MSB I'm so sorry for your loss. Please know you are not alone in your thoughts and feelings. Surprisingly I lost my mother two days (Dec 14th 2011) after you lost your mom. My father had died the previous year but we weren't all that close. I was very close to my mom. It's a unique situation. my mom was physically challenged since Childhood. As far back as I can remember ( about 3 ) I was my mothers arms and legs. We were pretty much one. This loss has been horrific for me. The last 9 months have been torture. This last week something happened that has given me some relief. I've realized already that I'm never going to get over this loss and I flat out refuse to ever accept the manner in which she died ( pancreatic cancer ) but slowly oh so slowly I can start to breath a little bit I guess. if you ever want to talk let me know. - Mark
