Profile Information

About Me:
I have one son who is in the Navy and currently deployed. My husband and I had lived in many states during our 35 year marriage and have friends spread across the country. I love books and coffee.
About my Loss:
My husband passed away on 3/19. He began getting sick right around Thanksgiving, first COPD, then lung cancer. I had started a job in Sept, so it was difficult working and being a caregiver. I recently tried to return to work after 2 months off, but since I wasn't there long, it's just hard as there are no real friendships there. My husband was so positive throughout everything and told hospice the only thing he worried about was me and was sad that he would not leave me better off financially. He made me laugh everyday for almost 35 years even in the worst of circumstances. I have been on the "grief train" before having lost my parents by age 19, then my brother in law and sister, This is different though and I would like to connect with people who understand how much it hurts and how hard it is to find a new "normal"

Sharing

I hope this is okay to share. My husband sent me this text message and it still brings me to tears, I feel so fortunate to have had someone love me like that, but my heart is broken:

"thank you for being the most giving person I've ever known, I don't deserve you but grateful beyond words"

He sent that to me at work when he was sick.

Many thanks for your response.  It is comforting to know that at least I am not alone and other people know the pain of such tragic losses.  Being on an Island of less than 9,000 people murders do not happen often therefore it is not something that people can deal with.
