About Me:
I am all about family and good friends. Though I am creative and usually have a project going or brewing, I am stagnant. I write, paint, sew, make jewelry and will try anything else that fills a space.
About my Loss:
My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer early in June 2014. There was no warning, no symptoms leading up to the diagnosis, just a cough with a tinge of blood the day he went for a CT scan and received the cancer diagnosis. Everything happened so quickly, PET scan, and scores of other tests and blood work and the Stage 4 outcome. My step daughter is a PA that works north of us by about 40 minutes. She was the one to deliver the news to her father, long story, short ... My husband had a terrible GP who provided nothing but the original prescriptions for the testing. We were so fortunate to have her help to navigate our way through the maze quickly and get us in to see an oncologist in her area. My husband started chemo in late June ... after 3 rounds and a repeat PET scan it was fond the tumor in his lung had doubled in size and the cancer had spread further in the bones and was then in the liver as well. Another chemo agent, six rounds later, cancer had again spread further. Both the cancer and the rounds of chemo had weakened and sickened him. We had made a few trips 3-4 hours west of us for drug trial, but after going through all the grueling testing he was too sick to even make it all the way home after our last trip to complete testing and win approval. He went into the hospital in early November and sadly, because his daughter is a PA all kinds of heroics were tried. They were tough days and nights. Finally one of the oncologist partners mentioned Hospice and my husband jumped at the mention of it. He was in so much pain. His youngest daughter arrived from from out of state along with her fiancé and his ex-wife. he was moved to the Hospice wing in later November and was finally able to get some pain relief. He was alert and kept comfortable for the most part, for 4-5 days. Everyone had an opportunity to talk to him one on one. And on November 23rd after a nice breakfast and his scheduled pain meds decided on a nap. He seemed to sleep peacefully. Early afternoon when we tried to wake him for his scheduled meds, he was in a deep sleep and did not wake up. He passed peacefully from his nap into his eternal slumber.

Does anyone else feel pressure to always reply because you're afraid it'll be the last conversation?

Hi everyone. This is my first post here.I lost my brother in December 2024 to an accidental overdose. He passed away suddenly in his sleep. We were only a year and a half apart in age, and he was the closest person I've ever had.One thing I've been struggling with ever since is that I feel an overwhelming pressure to reply to texts and answer calls as soon as I can. If someone messages me and I don't respond right away, my mind starts thinking, "What if something happens to them before I reply?…See More
