About Me:
I am 59, disabled because of diabetes and chronic pancreatitis, the mother of one and grandmother of four. I love making things - knit, crochet, quilting, sewing. My favorite exercise is dance - I long to take a tap class and a belly-dancing class.
About my Loss:
My husband of 30 years, Ed, died on May 14 2008. We had been expecting his passing for a long time. He suffered from Type II Diabetes with most of its complications.

Finally Beginning to Grieve

My husband died May 14, 2008. My son-in-law announced to my daughter October 5 that their marriage was over and moved out of the house November 7. I started seeing a counselor after my daughter got divorced (it was final March 2009). I felt I needed to know how best to help her and her children cope. The counselor pointed out that I was depressed and that I hadn't yet grieved the passing of my husband. I didn't want to believe him, but he assured me that I was in denial. Go figure.

Grief upon Grief

I was handling Ed's death pretty well. I've been a bit less apt to tidy up the room since Ed died, but other than that I was doing well. I was prepared for his death, ready for him to leave this life behind, even happy for him to be released from his body which had grown old and feeble. Healing nicely and taking on new challenges in life.

Then my son-in-law decided that my daughter was not the woman of his fantasies - he needed a divorce. It seems as though he wants to punish her for… Continue

You will never be forgotten. I know you are grieving and you are always in my prayers. Just know that I am here if you need to talk. I've been grieving since I was 2 years old. You never get over the loss of your loved ones. To be honest, this site helps me work through my own grief. Thanks and many ((((hugs)))).

I used to know a man whose wife was a belly dancer. He had a bumper sticker that said "Belly dancers husbands have more fun." I've always liked that. I love just about any kind of dance. I think belly dancing must be one of the best, exercise-wise. I'd like to learn to hula, too.

Hi Eve,
I didn't know you were interested in Belly Dancing. I am too. Maybe we can post some belly dancing classes on Iowa Avenue. That is, if I can find some. Take good care of yourself,
Diana

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.
