- In June 2011, one of my closest, oldest friends, Michael, was killed in Afghanistan. Before he left, he had asked me if I could ever be more than close friends, if I would wait for him. I told him that now was not the time. I wish I'd said yes.
Every day, I think of how good, how funny, how dedicated he was. Every day, I miss him.
