About Me:
I am a writer who lives on a hilltop in the Finger Lakes area of upstate New York. I have two adult sons, a wide network of friends, and a great dog. I write about bereavement and grief issues at http://elainemansfield.com/blog/ and am finishing a book about my husband's illness and death and the creation of a new life on my own.
About my Loss:
My husband of 42 years died in 2008. My family mourns his absence, especially at holidays, and grieves for him still. I turn my grief into writing and service to other women who have lost partners or spouses.

I am a trained support group facilitator and bereavement volunteer at Hospicare and Palliative Care Services of Tompkins County in Ithaca, NY. My support groups are for women who have lost partners or spouses. I also work one-on-one with others who grieve.
