About Me:
Widowed at 44 (18 years together & married since '99) & at same time suffering from empty nest syndrome (both daughters off to college far away from home). Very lonely @ feeling hopeless & lost.
About my Loss:
My husband was 48. Started speaking strangely not making sense with his words & also suddenly very clumsy.
Took him to hospital where an mri of his brain showed a mysterious mass about the sizebof a golf ball (or close to it anyway). Local hospital immediately transported him to san francisco hospital where he had a biopsy.
We werr told immediately by his neurologist that appeared to have a malignant primary brain tumor that was inoperable as it was deep in the center of his brain. Told us to expect to take him home & he would deteriorate from the tumor and he would die within a few months. Shocking-all family was there wjen he announced this to us-- our kids, his parents, his brothers, nieces & nephews & clise family friends. We all had spent the night in the waiting room as the biopsy was to be done early the next morning. Shock. Pain & unbelievable anger towards the surgeon for ripping all of our hearts apart just seconds before my husband was wheeled right past us from the surgery room to his ic room.
He did come home & just as the surgeon said he was gone 5 months later. Went through imtensive radiation & chemo treatments immediately which was so stressful to him & only bought us a bit more time with him.
I never could tell him he was going to die--i couldn't. And that kept him fighting which was so important for him.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
