About Me:
I am a practicing attorney in Los Angeles County, California.
About my Loss:
In 2003 my youngest brother, Christopher John Walsh, age 37, was murdered. He had been shot in the back of the head multiple times. His body was sealed in a 90-gallon trash can which was discovered in a storage facility. After it became apparent that material witnesses were not coming forward, either out of fear of the killers or because they were not inclined to cooperate with law enforcement, I became actively involved in the case. The pain of having a family member murdered is almost unbearable. Participating n the investigation helped me to focus on something other than the grisly details of my brother's murder. After 4 1/2 years, the murderers were convicted and will spend the rest of their lives in prison. I wrote about my experience. My book "Nobody Walks" will be released on February 5, 2013 by Thomas Dunne Books, a Division of St. Martin's Press. My story is an unusual one, but the grief I still suffer creates a common bond with all family members of murder victims. I mention in my book that when a family member is murdered it's a club you're not asked to join, you're just in. I would like to become involved in speaking with other people who have had family members taken by the callous act of murder, and hopefully be able to offer them some solace. There is no single manner or method to grieve, every person must find his or her own way in dealing with such tragedy. Good luck to all of you in finding that path.

Thanks for your kind words. Part of me wants to be around people and part of me doesn't.

Thanks for the words of hope. I have tried to help with my brothers case but the detective in charge & the D A have not given me much hope unless someone eventually talks. There were many witnesses but most of them were the suspects friends.
It gives me hoping knowing you finally got justice.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
