Profile Information

About Me:
female, demi-elder (my age, 73, and my spirit have very little relationship w/one another until I reckon w/my losses); I continue to work as a clinical social worker. I'm was raging hippie and my heart remains connected to peace and love and connectivity and kindness. I'm wounded by the time we live and remain active in offering alternatives. I'm an elder orphan which weighs on me at times; I'm a yankee transplant in the deep south which also sometimes weighs on me; I look for the sacred in people and nature; I live near the ocean so visit endlessness often. I have a wicked sense of humor most of the time.
About my Loss:
I cannot single out one loss. I've lived with endings, some quite shocking, since I was young and just moved on/through/past/around. Now, as I role into upper middle age and have time and grief has finally become something which is processed differently, I'm squaring off with some of the old ones and the ones I live w/as friends die or move or become less able. Right now I am looking at my next set of choices. Just bought my cremation and am writing my obit and planning my party. Nothing is in the immediate that I know of, but isn't that how it is.
Are You a Service Provider? If Yes, please tell us about your service.
I'm a clinical social worker and an addiction counselor. Built a hospice, worked w/the first identified AIDS pts in an area not known for acceptance at the time, continue to work w/military and non military clients w/PTSD diagnoses. I've been doing this for 30 yrs. Some of my grief is simply existential.

My mom died 4 months ago

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. She was sick for a few years. It was funny how when my grandmother smoked, my mom would always say-I’m gonna die from second hand smoke. My mom never smoked. She died from lung disease. Ironic.I was fine at the funeral. Planning. Talking to everyone. I thought u handled it great. Now 4 months later, I’m a mess. Some days I’m perfectly fine, but others I can’t walk down the street without crying. I keep thinking that I haven’t talked to her in a while & I…See More
