About Me:
I am a band director in Kansas. My staff and I see 700 kids a day. I love my job. This is my 32 year of teaching. I have one sister who lives with her husband and 2 children in San Antonio Texas. I have one adopted son who will be 35 in November. I was a foster parent for 10 years serving 37 children.
About my Loss:
My loses began with my grandmother who died in 2005, I spent every summer of my life with my grandparents working at their flower shop. Grandpa died in 1977. Following my Grandmother's death my father developed Alzheimer's disease. After a long illness and placing him in a care unit he passed away the day after my birthday, October 29, 2010. It was a huge relief to my mother. She had cared for him for 5 years and it took it's toll on her. After his passing Mom seemed to enjoy her new found freedom. She developed a liver issue which caused internal bleeding. I took her into the hospital and she required 5 units of blood. We got that fixed and in the process found a small mass in her lung. She tried to live on her own but it was just too hard. She started radiation with the encouragement of my sister and I. I really think that is what killed her. She died holding my son and I's hands on November 26th 2011. Somewhere in there I had major back surgery to add to the stress.

Grandma sewing room

So I am almost done with cleaning my grandmas sewing room that wasn’t touched in 10 years because of all the mess, but now that she passed away 2 days ago, I don’t know if I should continue, I wanna finish what I started but I don’t know what to do, my grandpa is still alive and I don’t want to leave this burden on him.See More
