About Me:
I am a 50yr. Old Mom of 2... One son that would be 29 if he was still with us.. and one daughter 26 and grandma to a 5 & 6 yr. Old girl & boy... My children/grandchildren, family & friends mean the world to me... I am divorced, disabled with Lupus for 10+ years, live in the country with my 4 pomeranians... I love horses, but no longer own them due to my disabilities. Love the beautiful northern country, but the winters are getting harder... Love to cook, paint, garden and more...
About my Loss:
I lost my son on October 9th. 2010 .... He was a beautiful soul, loved by so many in his community and world abroad... In 1982 I gave birth to a premature 4.4lbs diabetic baby boy... He was the 10th. Baby born with Diabetes reported in the United States. Despite his smal weight and this chronic disease called "Diabetes" he thrived!!! I learned how to give shots and draw blood for testing and everyday he improved and showed no signs of any other health issues, be it physical or mental imparment... In fact he scored very high and above average in most testing... By the time he started kindergarden, he was fully able to check his own blood and give himself insulin if needed. By te time he was 13 he took all his own shots and managed blood work and reported to me . The doctors and i worked together to keep him within normal range, but when puburty hit , he was so very out of control, wouldnt eat right , had developed severe depression, and started neglecting his diabetes all together... We sought help from doctors, counsolers, peers..support groups, but nothing seemed to work... We he was 17 he ran away, went to see the world in Oregon ... Fortunetly by then he started caring for his health again... He'd make many trips back home and lived with us again on and off for many years, and despite my nagging him all those years, he and i developed a very special relarionship... He was my best friend!!! In 2009, despite the constant care of so many doctors and specialist he was begining to loose this battle! His heart was going due to high blood pressure, he had a constant infection going, diabetic ulcers, loosing part of a thumb, and a big toe all due to blood flow restriction from chronic uncontrolled diabetes! He came to visit me on October 1st. 2010 for a much needed rest before he was due to start dialysis, due to kidney/renal failure. I could clearly tell he needed to see a doctor, but refused.. he was still mentally strong... Told me and his sister over and over to quit treating him like he is frail... I begged him to go to the emergency room early on Oct. 9th. But still he refused... Early that evening he jumped out of his chair and fell to the ground, i helped him up and he said he needed to use the restroom... We only made as far as the bathroom door, bfeore he started clutching his heart.. i laid him on the floor no,longer able to hold his weight , got a blanket, covered him , then ran for my phone to call 911..... When i got back in the bathroom he was taking his final breaths..... Despite over an hour and a half with paramedics and the emergency room he didnt make it...... I lost my only son and best friend forever... Please take caere of your health..... The otherside of ill health hurts more then just the person with the illness. To this day, I still wake many nights in a horrible sweat , crying weaping .... I wish this NIGHTMARE would end......

My mom died 4 months ago

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. She was sick for a few years. It was funny how when my grandmother smoked, my mom would always say-I’m gonna die from second hand smoke. My mom never smoked. She died from lung disease. Ironic.I was fine at the funeral. Planning. Talking to everyone. I thought u handled it great. Now 4 months later, I’m a mess. Some days I’m perfectly fine, but others I can’t walk down the street without crying. I keep thinking that I haven’t talked to her in a while & I…See More
