About Me:
I am 23 years old and I live with my Mother and older brother. I am halfway done with college and I am very grateful to have a very patient and understanding boyfriend. I have held a steady job at the same place for almost seven years and I am still figuring out what to do with my life.
About my Loss:
My Father died in December of 2012 a week before Christmas. His true cause of death is still unknown. Everything happened in the span of one week. My Dad had been complaining about a very sore throat and not feeling well, and on Dec. 11th he was hospitalized and intubated after complaining that his throat was closing and he could hardly breathe. He was sedated, and long story short- he never woke up again, even when the sedation was lifted. He had suffered severe brain death because he had stopped breathing for so long when being intubated. His blood tested positive for strep throat, but nothing else. The doctors believe that the strep got into his blood and infected his brain. His brain then swelled, which injured it. A combination of that and loss of oxygen put him into a vegetative state and I had to decide to disconnect him from life support. He passed on Dec. 18th. It was and has been extremely traumatic for me and I can't seem to get over losing my Dad and the process I went through prior to his passing.
