About Me:
I am a 46 year old divorced mother of two adult sons and grandmother of one precious four year old granddaughter.
About my Loss:
On December 22, 2016 I lost my only sister who was six years younger than I. Her death was unexpected and the result of a drug overdose, but my mother and brother-in-law law wanted that kept secret. Keeping it secret is a mental and emotional struggle for me because I feel like I am a liar to my extended family and friends, and I feel guilt and shame for not doing more or for knowing more about my sister's addiction. I spent two weeks with my mother following my sister's death. While there my mother disclosed all she had witnessed of my sister's addiction and how painful it had been for her. She felt helpless and alone and was too ill to attend my sister's memorial. I left to return to work with the plan to return on January 14, 2017. At 1:40 am that same day, while I was on a stopover visit with my sister's youngest child in NC, the paramedics told me by telephone that my mother had died alone in her apartment approximately two days prior.

Grandma sewing room
