About Me:
I am 31 years old. I love my job as a veterinarian assistant. I had to put that on hold for a while since my brother passed. It has always been my mom, dad, Matt and me. We were very a very close knit family, and we still are. Growing up we would go on camping trips with just us four and our family dogs. We also love lake fishing. We grew up in Alameda, California, which is in the San Francisco Bay Area. We lived in the same house for my entire life until 2002, when we moved across country to North Carolina. My dad is from NC, and all of his family is here. Growing up, we would travel to NC during the summer to visit family and spend time at our lake house at Lake Gaston.

I began dance classes at age 2 and continued until I was 18. I was a very skilled dancer, and I absolutely loved ballet. I still do. Our dance company traveled to Japan, Australia and New Zealand. I don't dance anymore and I miss it.

I have struggled with depression since age 9. I have seen numerous doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, etc. I have been on antidepressants since age 12. I have tried many different antidepressants and sometimes they work for a while, then they stop working. I have been diagnosed with "treatment-resistant depression".
About my Loss:
I lost my only sibling, my younger brother, to an accidental heroin overdose on February 28th, 2016. He was 28 years old. We were very close. He had struggled with substance abuse for many, many years. In April 2011, he overdosed and had to be put on life support for 2 weeks. My parents and I were told he had no brain function and that he would die. Somehow, he survived. He lost 50% of his hearing, which was devastating as he was an incredibly talented musician. He suffered a brain injury. It took him about 3 years to hit a plateau. He had to live with my parents. He was clean and sober until the fall of 2015, when he began drinking and smoking pot to cope with his severe depression, anxiety and guilt. He used heroin for the first time since 2011 on December 13th, 2015. He overdosed and was hospitalized. He returned home December 24th, 2015. He decided that he wanted to move out, so he moved into an apartment on February 1st, 2016. He overdosed on heroin and died on Sunday, February 28th, 2016.

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
