About Me:
19 and struggling with the world on my shoulders.
About my Loss:
I lost my mum to cancer, December 1, 2012. Her cancer appeared as a mouth ulcer, yet after having a biopsy, it was known then to be one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. A few days short of a year later, she lost her battle - 1 month and 8 days short of her 50th Birthday. After attacking the mouth cancer with the maximum amount of radiotherapy, she was in the clear, had a whole body pet scan to confirm. 5 weeks later she came home from Melbourne after been down there for 2 days, with what could have been mistaken for a pregnant 38week stomach. 5L of fluid was drained that day and after a follow up pet scan, a secondary cancer was found in the lungs, stomach and bone. My mum was such a strong woman, had almost 13 months of sick leave owing to her when she was diagnosed after giving so much to her career as a nurse. I will never be able to explain the hurt it caused to see her become so weak. I have a 15yo sister and a dad, who were both used to having mum be the head of the house and hold everyone together, I fee that has just landed on my lap and I am struggling. I miss her more and more each day - I'm afraid of forgetting.

My mom died 4 months ago

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. She was sick for a few years. It was funny how when my grandmother smoked, my mom would always say-I’m gonna die from second hand smoke. My mom never smoked. She died from lung disease. Ironic.I was fine at the funeral. Planning. Talking to everyone. I thought u handled it great. Now 4 months later, I’m a mess. Some days I’m perfectly fine, but others I can’t walk down the street without crying. I keep thinking that I haven’t talked to her in a while & I…See More
