About Me:
Born in New York, and a resident of Long Island, Anna Laruccia is equally at home in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the Atlantic Jungle Coast between those two fabulous cities in Brazil. Anna has been a serious student of imagery, light, shadow, and composition in art, and photography since early childhood. Her formal years of training in photography began at Parson’s School of Design in New York City, and at the School of Visual Arts in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Laruccia’s photographs have appeared in the art section of the New York Times, and her oil paintings and charcoal drawings have been exhibited in the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, The Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in East Hampton, and in various galleries in New York City, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In 1991, Ms. Laruccia had the honor and pleasure to have an exhibit “Real / Unreal / Surreal “ in Soho, NY, and was personally sponsored by world renowned Curator, Mr. Leo Castelli.
Anna spent eight years of intense study in anatomy drawing and traditional painting with Master painter, Harold R. Stevenson. Anna’s commissioned paintings, murals, and photographs now exist widely in private collections.
In late childhood local country cemeteries became a playground for the imagination as Laruccia began reading tombstones and playing among the statuary. She was a child becoming familiar with the process of life, loss of life and the mysteries of the After-Life. In 1972, Anna’s first trip to Brazil found her wandering with camera in tow through the most magnificent cemeteries in the world. Her photographic collection has been cultivated over the past 40 years, rendering hundreds of the most beautiful and interesting tombstone photographs imaginable.
Anna Laruccia invites us to join her on a spiritual journey amongst memorial paintings and fine art photographs larger than life and more enduring than the pain and love they represent.
About my Loss:
Belief in God, and Study of the After-Life Journey of the Soul are my tools that help me through the many key-people losses in my life. In the past 2 years, I have lost a dozen + of my personal key-players. Sometimes I feel like I am in a constant state of longing. My Art and photography not only help me, but many others to em-brass tomorrow, cherish their memories, acknowledge the landscape of the After-Life while venerating Souls who have come to the world and touched our hearts and minds deeply.
