Movies about grief that actually understand loss — any recommendations?

Hi everyone
I’m new here and honestly never thought I’d need a space like this, but here I am.
I’ve been living with grief for a while now, and some days it’s quiet, some days it hits out of nowhere.

Lately I’ve been watching movies about loss and grief - not to make myself sad on purpose, but to feel understood.
Sometimes seeing grief on screen helps when it’s hard to explain what’s going on inside.
The problem is that many “grief movie lists” online feel very surface-level or overly dramatic, and I don’t want stories that miss the reality of loss.

These are some movies I’ve already watched that felt honest to me:

A Monster Calls
Manchester by the Sea
Rabbit Hole
Ordinary People
Blue Valentine

Some were painful, some strangely comforting, but all made me feel a little less alone.

I also came across a couple of movie-by-tag lists focused on grief and loss, but I’m not sure how good they really are:

What movies helped you feel seen in your grief?
Not “everything will be okay” stories - just honest ones that sit with the pain, love, memories, and silence.

If you feel like sharing, I’d really appreciate your recommendations.
Sending strength to everyone here

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More
