Suicide is not a choice!  It is a desperate last option of someone who feels they can’t take any more pain.

I lost my best friend of 20+ years to suicide in 1989, I know the pain and it is hard to come to grips with it.

Very true. I just shared a very similar thought on another thread with someone who called suicide a "selfish act". People need to understand that in some cases, where mental health issues are plenty it is not a selfish act - it is a desperate act but that doesn't make it selfish per-say.

My father fought depression off and on for longer then I probably will ever know. He had to be hospitalized the year before he took his own life in a mental health ward. We (family) knows that he was afraid he was loosing his mind and for several other reasons that he was in his own way, in a moment of chaotic desperation attempting to save us from things he felt might be coming. No one will ever be able to convince me that this was a selfish act. Depression and other mental health related issues can cloud the mind so much that no longer is a grey area. They see everything in black and white.
