Grief Art & Hope blog seeking stories/artwork about healing with artwork

I'm Nancy Gershman, Editor of the soon to launch Grief Art & Hope blog on The Open to Hope Foundation. I'm very interested in what kinds of memorial artwork (made by you, friends and relatives, or by an artist) have helped you face your fears, and cope with loss and regrets. For those who already do art-making as therapy, I'd love to hear what mediums are helping you feel joy again.

Please consider emailing your stories and/or artwork (captioned, with byline) for consideration to nancy@griefartandhope.com. We can already see by the responses how much this blog is filling a void for folks at all stages of grieving …

Warm regards,

Nancy Gershman

as an artst given the gift by my mother it is so hard to paint a memorial
Ah yes. I see this every day with my therapeutic work. When we lose someone, it is so hard to give ourselves permission to view that human being from every angle (part angel, part devil?). But most importantly, we spend alot of time analyzing what is this person's legacy? What ideas, beliefs, philosophy do they want to leave behind for their families and friends? So we work on that together --and apart. Listen, I am here in Chicago; would you like to talk: 773-255-4677? N
I lived with my mother and I can remember being in the middle of painting and she would call for some water or something else due to her health problems she required assistance . Now i know that she can talk to me reach me in that artistic high yet i find it so hard to focus
Can you possibly call me so we can have a dialogue? N
I will give you a call tomorrow thank you so very much
I think grief artwork is good step for you and I think really helpful to those person who lost their loved ones. When we lost our loved one, its difficult to deal with this grief and its so painful. I lost my uncle 3 years ago and I really miss him. I never forget him. Please you should make a grief art for heal my pain. Thanks!!

condolences
I don't know where you are (US? Europe?) but you can reach me on Skype (NancyGershman) or by calling 773-255-4677. I would be glad to work on a healing photomontage about your uncle. Tell me more about yourself (especially, what's your name?) by filling out my contact form at www.artforyoursake.com/contact.html. Let's talk soon, Nancy

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.
