6 Weeks ago i lost my husband of 19 years,  He was my best friend,  my rock,  and he looked after the house,  the cooking,  the cleaning and everything.  We had lots of wonderful friends and i had the best husband around.  Then cancer came and took everything from us.  Now im left behind trying to cope with our kids,  our house and everything. most of those friends seem to be gone.  no one has taken the timeto ask how i am this easter. Everyone seems to expect me to just cope.  i feel like  im drowning,  and theres no lifelines,  no hope for the future,  just more going without.

i dont know how to get any help,  any support,  i dont know if theres anything available.  my requests for help dealing with the cancer came back as there is nothing.  My doctor was one of our friends,  but she seems really stressed by his death,  and doesnt seem to want to talk to me.

I miss touch,  i dont get any anymore,  from anyone,

And i feel like all im doing is whining about how bad things are,  so noone includes me in anything fun any more.

Any suggestions on how to make all this work?

Hi Sheryl, I can relate to everything you have written.

I lost my wife to bowel cancer in September 2014 after 22 years of marriage.

I feel completely lost without her.

Regarding your friends ?, they simply do not know how to relate to you now, they dont know what to say, one thing changes, everything changes, it is like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

I wrote to articles to my local paper concerning Cancer from the left behind spouses point of you, and a tribute to my wife, if you would like to read them, write to me at michaelthompson533@btinternet.com

Best Wishes

My Fathers Loss

Many years ago, I lost my father after his battle with colon cancer that later spread to his bones. The grief stayed with me longer than I expected. Ambrosia Behavioral Health helped me work through that loss, understand my emotions, and find healthier ways to cope and move forward. https://www.ambrosiatc.comSee More

Traumatic loss of an only child

I started this group so that people who have lost their only child or the only child that remained, as in my case, could come together because I believe people that did have a child or children who now have none have special issues.

Loss of a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide

If you have lost a loved one to alcohol, substance abuse or suicide please share your story or feelings here. Share the love and beauty of the one you lost. Losing someone any of these ways is not natural and can be hard to understand and ask why? I lost my Mother to an overdose 9 years ago. She also suffered from major depression. Her doctor got her hooked on pain medication and she was addicted most of my life. These doctors who were suppose to help her ended up killing her in the end. I also…See More
