I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I don't really like giving advice on how to cope with a loss because we all grieve differently but I can give suggestions on how to make yourself feel better. You can keep a journal to write down your thoughts, I found that was the best for me. I know it hurts and people will try to tell you it'll get better over time, which it will, a little but the pain wont go away completely. I know she's watching over you and she'll always be with you. You will be in my prayers.

Leanne,

I am so sorry for your loss. It doesn't seem fair, does it, that your mom isn't around to share in your life now. It sounds like you have done a wonderful job of continuing to live your life and she would be so proud of you. I'm sure you've heard the words from others, "she lives on IN you", but, it doesn't take the hurt away does it?

I lost my husband this past November to cancer. Our 2 children live with us; my daughter is 24 and my son is 26. My son had just started a brand new teaching job at a local high school and was excited to come home and talk with his father. My daughter used to talk to him about animals...they both miss him terribly.

You know what one of his first thoughts was  when he heard his diagnosis? He looked at me and said "I'll never see my grandchildren". I'm sure your mother had those same thoughts.

Were you close to your mom? What do you remember about her?

Addie replied to Kali's discussion It was not supposed to be like this in the group Being the Other Woman/Other Man
"Kali I’m so so sorry you are going through this. Grief is hard enough, but going through it secretly, all the while having to continue showing up for your kids, is just brutal. Perhaps your friend was careful to hide your conversations behind…"

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More
