I wonder if I'm alone in this one. I know a lot of people here have lost parents but I wonder if I'm the only one who has lost both. Car accidents and such will sometimes take both parents but I…Continue

About Me:
I'm 19 years old from Connecticut.
About my Loss:
My first loss was my father, when I was 12. He was in a car accident Jan. 31, 2005, was in a coma, and passed on Feb. 10, 2005. My second was my mother, when I was 15. She was an addict of my years, came clean for a year or two, then began to drink heavily. She died from "complications" March 2, 2008.

Theresa, thank you so much for the words of wisdom. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss. Whilst reading your "About my Loss" section, I got the chills when I read that your mother also died of "complications" related to alcoholism. My heart aches knowing the pain that comes with said "diagnosis."

Thank you also for offering me someone to talk to. The same goes for you, as well. I'm might be new to "learning" how to deal with all of this, but I'm always willing to be a listening ear.

Take care. <3

It was not supposed to be like this

In 2014 I met the most amazing man ever. We were both in our very early 20s and were looking for different things at the time. We ceased communication for roughly 6 months. During which time, he completed basic training and joined the Air Force. By the time we reconnected he was already at his first duty station.. 8 hours away.We decided we wanted to continue our relationship and proceeded to cultivate a deeply emotional connection. Regular calls and video chats, visits while he was home on…See More

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More

A Return to GriefShare and a Crisis of Identity

So I found myself headed back to the GriefShare support group last Monday.  I was actually considering stopping my attending. Not because anything has been solved or fixed or resolved, but because things had settled down, and my problems have moved onto other issues.  Then on a random scroll down Facebook lane, I see a posting from Jen's sister, Dallas, that her oldest daughter, Brooklyn, had been killed in Omaha a few days past. This tore me up. This family has endured more pain than any…See More
